Srtop Being So Poor and Enjoy Life

There are some things that you've just got to have...

Not because they look nice or because some celebrity is telling you to buy them, but because they move your life forward and/or they make a difference. Or they're just plain enjoyable.

Okay, maybe sometimes it is all about making myself feel nice.

I originally called this page “Resources”, because that’s what you do, right?

But that sounds so boring. And it doesn’t really do this page justice.

I want to share the things that I read, play, use in my daily life, whether that’s getting my act together around money, organising myself or having some down time. I love reading books by people like Marian Keyes and Danielle Hawkins, for example, so why not share them as well as the more serious stuff?

Everything is sorted into categories and I’ve read or used all of them.

Books about money...

John came home from work one day back in February 2001 with a book that someone at work had given him. That book – Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki – marked the beginning of our journey to wealth. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all the reading and learning that we’ve done. That sounds really patronising, but it’s true. If you don’t like the way things are, the easiest way to change that is by learning from others; there’s no point in reinventing the wheel.

Here are the books that have made the biggest difference to us. Some of them are practical books, some of them are about changing the way we think about money. All of them I’d recommend in a heartbeat.

Books to change your life...

There have been times when I needed more than a little help to dig myself out of a dark place and at other times, I just found a great book and it made a huge difference.

Take journaling, for example, prior to buying100 S**t Hot Journaling Questions, I had never, ever managed more than a few paltry lines. Now I count journaling as something that is an integral part of my life.

Other books just made me think about things in a different way, which is never a bad thing as far as I’m concerned. While I may not agree with that viewpoint or stick with it, just knowing about it gives me an advantage.

On top of that, I love digging down and uncovering hidden little gems – gremlins may be a better term – that are running my life without my knowledge!

Apps to make your life easier...

Apps have come such a long way, even in the last few years.

I’ve always struggled with finding apps that work for me as far as money goes. I use the banking apps all the time, to transfer money and pay things, but as far as anything else goes? Well, let me say that using apps for my finances hasn’t been a roaring success for me.

Until recently.

Just recently, I found a plethora of awesome money apps and they’ve made things so much easier for me.

I can now access all my bank accounts across five different banks (I need to sort that out soon) in one app.

I have another app that taps into my everyday account and invests the small change left over from my transactions.

There’s another one that makes doing the bookkeeping for the accountant so much easier.

Then there are the ones that help with tax.

These are my favourite apps of the moment, but I like to change and try new things constantly, so there will definitely be new ones added.
